About Us

aahm-altar-arrangement240266

The Faith Community of St. Sabina is a Word-based, Bible teaching church that believes in the power of praise and worship. We are a spiritual hospital where all are welcome and invited to "taste and see the goodness of the Lord."

Our purpose is to nurture and develop spiritually mature Christians who are trained leaders and who are not confined by the walls of the sanctuary, but can penetrate the world in order to present God's way of living as a divine option.

SEPTEMBER 7 IS EVERYBODY’S DAY TO BEGIN! | Print |

August 31, 2010

Letter to the Editor:

SEPTEMBER 7 IS EVERYBODY’S DAY TO BEGIN!

Tuesday, September 7, is the opening day of school for most of Chicago’s school students. If this school year is to be successful, it must also be the opening day for Chicago residents (parents and neighbors) to declare that our children will be safe to and from school each day as well as on the weekends. Enough finger pointing and blaming, enough of the silence that protects those who are terrorizing our communities and shooting and killing our children, enough of the apathy and passivity.

No one gets a pass. The safety of our children is everybody’s responsibility: the police, parents, schools, neighbors, business owners, politicians, churches, the elderly and the young, those with children and those without children, those on the south side and those on the north shore, EVERYONE! Let’s not just send our children back to school, let’s send ourselves back to accepting the responsibility of rebuilding the safety net in our communities, breaking the code of silence by sending out the message that you will not harm our children and hide in our homes and neighborhoods. We must reach out to the young people on our blocks (all of them) and let them know we care about them and love them, but will hold them accountable for their actions.

Finally, let’s create again a community where we are the “blue lights,” we are the ones who do the “well being checks” on each other and where we are again look out for each other. It’s time for our children to once again feel safe and protected and enjoy the gift of childhood.,

Yes, it’s time to send our children back to school and it’s time to send ourselves back to being responsible for them!

In the Pursuit of Justice…

Rev. Michael L. Pfleger

Silent Screams: Deaths of the CPS

Video Montage by Mack Julion (2008)

On Mother's Day, May 9th we dedicated a sculpture in the vestibule of the church to remember all the children who have  lost their lives to violence. The sculpture is to remind us to never forget the children who lost their lives and to continually remind us to work to end the violence that is snatching away our future. Joining us were mothers from around the city who have lost children to violence.
